Things to see and do in and around
- Bicchi Rajghat for sighting Indian skimmers and Jogdah for sighting the breeding population of Gharial, Magar and Chitra indica turtles.
- Ghoghra Devi mandir, which is also the birthplace of Birbal (Navratna of Akbar)

- Mada caves, Singrauli: Located in Mada tehsil, about 32 km from Waidhan, Mada caves are a series of different caves (Vivah Mada, Ganesh Mada, Ravan Mada, Jal Jaliya Mada, etc.). These date back to the 7th and 8th centuries. Singrauli was a part of the erstwhile princely state of Rewa till 1947, after which it became a part of independent India. Its earlier name was Shringavalli, named after the sage Shringi. Visit https://www.singraulionline.in/guide/mada-caves-in-singrauli for details.
You can also stay at the charmingly restored Singrauli Palace Hotel, a Heritage Property. Official website https://singraulipalace.com. - Visit Rewa: Sightseeing in Rewa includes Mukundpur White Tiger Safari, the Govindgarh Fort and Baghel Museum, Buddhist stupas at Deur Kothar, and the Bhairav Baba Temple at Gurh. You could also visit the beautiful Chachai Falls, Keoti Falls and Bahuti Falls. Spend at least 2 days exploring Rewa.
My blog on Rewa: Abode of the White Tiger, Madhya Pradesh, provides you with a detailed travel insight into Rewa.
- Bharhut Stupa, Satna
- Maa Sharda Devi Temple, Maihar, Satna, is one of the 51 Shakti Peeths of goddess Parvati. The necklace (har) of divinity Sati (Mai) fell down, and the name ‘Maihar’ stayed on.

- The Chandreh Temple at Shikarganj: is an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) site dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located at the sacred confluence of three rivers: Son, Banas, and Banaganga and dates back to the early Chedi dynasty (850-1015 CE), also known as the Kalachuris. This place is approximately 60 km from the Parsili Resort, making it an excellent offbeat excursion for history and heritage enthusiasts.
Adorned with intricate carvings of humans, elephants, and Kirtimukhas (mythical faces symbolizing protection), the temple reflects the architectural grandeur of its era. Adjacent to the temple stands a mutt (monastery) that houses two ancient Sanskrit stone inscriptions detailing its construction. The Kalachuri rulers established several such temples, with Kadwaha Temple (Ashok Nagar) and Survaya Temple (Shivpuri) being other significant examples.
I recommend booking a stay at the Parsili Nature Camp, a comfortable eco-stay operated by Madhya Pradesh Tourism. The cottages here are nestled amidst nature, offering stunning views of the river and forests.
